“Written with wit and compassion, How Trust Works brims with insights about our judgements of others’ actions and the ways that our intuitions can sometimes lead to irrational conclusions. With enormous implications for individuals, businesses, and society, this is an eye-opening read for anyone who wishes to understand human behavior and relationships.”

―David Robson, author of The Intelligence Trap and The Expectation Effect

―Katy Milkman, author of How to Change

“A thoughtful, well-researched study of a ‘critical foundation’ of society.”

Kirkus Reviews

“The book is not a superficial step-by-step guide for those interested in simple quick fixes. Instead, Kim provides a deeper understanding of how trust can arise, how it is damaged and what it means to repair it. He also offers practical insights into how to rebuild our own social connections in the face of the turmoil and disappointments we so frequently experience.'”

Financial Times

“Kim sheds fascinating light on trust in action by exploring the differences between ‘how we might think trust operates and how most of us choose to trust in real life.'”

“Genuine trust requires risk and vulnerability and isn’t always sustainable. Not all apologies are sincere; not all retribution is enough. But Kim offers guidance on seeing the good in others, seeking the truth, understanding intent, and finding the right moment. Ultimately hopeful, this intriguing study is a welcome light in these murky times..”
